Juniper Works emblem: a cedar waxwing perched on a juniper branch heavy with berries

A home remodel series

Juniper Works

Two guys, one 1980s house, and every lesson nobody tells you.

We're tearing a 1980s house down to the studs and building it back better, starting at the top with the attic. Every step on camera: the insulation, the ductwork, the roof, the framing.

9 in 10

Nine out of ten homes in America don't have enough insulation.

140°F

In most homes built in the 1980s, the attic can hit 140 degrees in the summer.

1 house

One real house, one real budget, and every decision explained, including the ones we got wrong.

Welcome to Juniper Works

This isn't a flip and it isn't a makeover show. It's two people documenting a full remodel of the house we live in, the wins and the mistakes, so you can see what the job actually takes before you start yours.

Open attic framing with the old roof deck visible between the rafters

The attic

Tearing off the old attic and rebuilding it properly: new framing, a real air barrier, and insulation that does its job.

Inside a run of old flexible duct, with pink fiberglass insulation falling apart at the opening

The ductwork

Forty-year-old flex duct, holes, patches and fiberglass where it shouldn't be. What we found and how we replaced it.

A gable wall with the siding torn open to the studs and the old metal roof below

The roof

Opening up the gables and the roof to get at what was underneath, and putting it all back weather-tight.

Close-up of old framing where a stud and plate have split along the grain

The framing

Cracked rafters, bowed studs and loose boards. Working with an engineer and building it back stronger.

Lessons nobody tells you

Most remodel videos show the finished room. We're showing the decisions: why we started at the top, what the plans said, what the engineer changed, where we wasted a weekend, and what we'd do differently.

Episodes come out as a podcast-style series with plenty of footage from the job, from drone shots of the roof to the inside of the old ductwork. Live build days and podcast streams are next.

The attic

Why we started at the top: a 140-degree attic, tired ductwork and framing that had seen better days. How we planned it, what we tore out, and what we would do differently.
